Bwambale
Est. Date of Birth 1999
Male
My name is Bwambale and I arrived at Ngamba in 2002. I was found on a sugar plantation as a very small baby and the humans kept me for two years before I was rescued and brought to Ngamba. My name means ‘second born’ in Lukonjo, because I was, sadly, the second chimp to be confiscated from the area where I was found. I wasn’t very healthy when I first arrived at Ngamba but now I am and I love to play.
My Story
Bwambale (Profile of a would be alpha male at Ngamba Island)
I arrived at Ngamba Island as a baby Chimp more like Caesar in the planet of apes. Now I’m of age and I’ve got enough training to elevate me to the position of alpha male. You’ve got to believe me on this, my name is Bwambale and I have leadership ambitions.
I came in at 3 years in 2002 and I’ve been training since then. I’m 17 years now and I believe if I dominate enough females at Ngamba Island I have a better chance of becoming the alpha male.
You see in my community if you have the support of the females, you have higher chances of getting on that coveted throne. It happened for Eddie and Mika. I guess I could also pull the same trick and become alpha male because at Ngamba Island there are more female Chimpanzees than they are males.
But my plan is not only limited to dominating the females only because as we all know the males are stronger than women so I have also started spreading my wings to the males by protecting Oketch from all forms of harm even when it means fighting for him while he stands by.
I believe if I could win over other males like I have with Oketch, my ambitions will soon come to fruition. You see I have a very elaborate plan on how to take over power, if you want to hear it all you’ve got to come find me at Ngamba Island.
