My name is Ndyakira and I arrived at Ngamba in 2002. My name means ‘I will survive’ in Rutoro. I’m named after a famous Ugandan journalist who uncovered a story of four chimps stolen from Uganda and sent to Russia, eventually making their way back to Uganda (some of those chimps are here now!). I was confiscated during a sting operation and was very sick when I first arrived. I am now healthy and happily integrated with the group. I love to spend my days up in the trees.
