Stanley Hategeka
Because these chimps need special care, I would like to see people help them where they can.”
Stanley grew up in Kisoro district with his parents, three sisters, and brother. He has always enjoyed playing football and plays whenever he can. Before coming to work on Ngamba Island, Stanley worked as a cook and cleaner. He was very pleased when he got the position here on Ngamba Island in February 2004, as he has always had an interest in animals, especially chimpanzees. He often used to visit the chimpanzees at the Wildlife Education Centre in Entebbe.
When he can, Stanley likes to watch the chimps, his favorite being Tumbo. Stanley confesses, “I like him because he is polite and easy going. I like to spoil him in the evenings by giving him pawpaw that I grow outside the kitchen.”
