Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships. Team building activity at Ngamba Island was the first of its kind to Chimpanzee Trust, members, were curious to know how the experience runs. The day begun with heavy droppings of rain thus a cold morning however, the team was set ready to be a part of the Team Building activity. After one hour and 30 minutes, we arrived at our destination which was Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
We were welcomed by Amos the guide of the day who took us straight for breakfast inclusive of a cup of tea/coffee and a snack (Chapati and g.nuts) to warm after the cold cruise then enjoyed the bites as members interacted with one another. After this, members were briefed about the cautions to be respected while at the island such as smoking areas, response to a whistle when blown etc.
The Bucket List Instructors welcomed members to the team building session; they were a team of 7 members who introduced themselves to us. Later each participant was instructed to introduce themselves to the entire group by saying their names, what they like to do most and illustrate it with an action. This was so exciting for members that they showed off interest in hugging, drinking alcohol, singing, dancing and so on.
We participated in various activities such as shuffling, blind tie challenge, blood circulation ring, The blue among several others which all had lessons to draw out of them say; Why planning is important? Is a strategy required as you perform your work? The role of a leader in everything we do? Why do we need each other in executing our daily work? Why listening is key in your day to day activities?
At the end of the day, we had learnt so much and believed this will help each team member to improve on their weak areas.
Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” –Helen Keller
